If your business accepts credit cards as part of everyday business the new Credit CARD Act of 2009 and Payment Card Industry (PCI)'s Data Security Standard DSS (PCI-DSS) 6.6 requirements go into effect in July. As a credit card merchant, its your job to know about PCI compliance. The set of requirements is designed to ensure all companies big and small that process, store or transmit credit card information maintain a secure environment. If your customers credit card information is breached, your business could be held financially liable. Dont assume your credit card software or processing company has this covered on your behalf.
